Ferrari 488 Pista debuts at the Geneva Motor Show

Ferrari announced official information about the new Ferrari 488 Pista, but the debut at the Geneva Motor Show gave us a great opportunity to see the model up close

The new Ferrari 488 Pista is undoubtedly faster and more exclusive than the Ferrari 488 model. The road-ready version is powered by a new, upgraded 3.9L V8 engine with 530kW (711hp) and 770Nm (568lb ft) of peak torque, making it the most powerful road-ready model in Ferrari’s history with a V8 engine.

Compared to the Ferrari 488 GTB engine, the new Ferrari 488 Pista’s new V8 engine features a new engine cam design, a larger central cooler, a more efficient piston design and titanium piston connecting rods and Inconel exhaust manifolds, all of which are part of the new design. These new designs are the main reasons why the new Ferrari 488 Pista is so powerful. The 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, also upgraded, ensures smoother gear changes. In Race mode, the new Ferrari 488 Pista shifts in an astonishing 30 milliseconds.

In terms of appearance, the most obvious change to the new Ferrari 488 Pista is its front-end design. The new front bumper design and the exaggerated concave hood design not only make the front end look aggressive, but also provide more downforce to the body, further optimizing the air resistance at high speed.

Inside the cabin, the new Ferrari 488 Pista uses a lot of carbon fiber and Alcantara fabric as the main material of the interior, ensuring the luxury and comfort of the cabin while creating a unique fighting atmosphere of a racing car.

Pista means track in Italian, so the name Pista alone already reveals the performance direction of this coupe. In order to further reduce air resistance, the body of the new Ferrari 488 Pista model has been designed with a large number of wisps. At the same time, the carbon fiber hood, bumpers and rear wing have been designed to reduce the weight of the car by 90kg compared to the Ferrari 488 GTB, and the optional carbon fiber wheels are 40% lighter than the wheels that come standard on the Ferrari 488 GTB.

In addition, the new Ferrari 488 Pista is equipped with a new version of the oversteer control system, which ensures that the driver can control the car more easily when driving at top speed.
